Replacement Options for Tanks
Like any home appliance, an oil tank can last for many years. But just like any home appliance, there comes a time when you need to replace old and outdated equipment with something new and technologically advanced. And now is a great time to replace your old tank because the state has expanded eligibility for the Petroleum Underground Storage Tank Fund.
The life expectancies of underground oil tanks vary depending on the material used in their manufacture, how the tank was installed and the composition of the surrounding soil. Most last for decades without problems. But, just like your roof, an underground tank eventually needs to be replaced.
If you’re ready to upgrade your old underground tank and apply for reimbursement from the state, you have two good options. Both of these options enable you to continue enjoying the savings, safety and service advantages of oil heat for many years.

Replace an underground tank with a fiberglass or new corrosion-protected, cathodically protected underground tank. With today's technology, a new tank can be isolated from the ground, making it worry free. |

2. |
Replace a buried tank with an aboveground tank. These tanks are normally smaller (275 or 330 gallons) and can be customized for hard-to-fit spaces. Aboveground tanks can be installed inside or outside the home. An outside tank can even be hidden in a tank enclosure. |
